The Fishing

Steelhead Excursions takes anglers right into the heart of the Bulkley River, the largest tributary of the Skeena River system boasting the best steelhead fishing in Canada—quite possibly, the world. To get a better idea of steelheading on the Bulkley River, please watch this short video.

We guide all three sections of the Bulkley River and each section has it's own distinct personality. We focus our energy primarily in the canyons section, as it has the water we enjoy to fish; complex, full of structure and difficult to access for all but the most experienced anglers and guides. Some days we are fortunate enough to be the only anglers on 5 mile stretch of some of the finest steelhead water on the planet.

The Guides

In order to offer our clients the very best experience possible, each guide works a specific section of the Bulkley for the entire season. Our guides become very in touch with the river, building a detailed map of each pool on their specific beat. This attention to detail pays dividends when conditions are tough, enabling the guide to find the very best position in even the worst conditions. Our guides are anglers first and foremost, they love being out on the river and they love sharing their expert knowledge with our guests.
